Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.QFES is one department with many services, many capabilities and many partners.
Purpose of the role
The role is responsible for providing high quality executive and operational support to the Deputy Commissioner by managing the processing of correspondence and assisting the Deputy Commissioner in the preparation of daily activities.

Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
- Prepare, contribute to and quality check correspondence, reports and submissions ensuring actions and priorities are addressed and accurate and appropriate replies formulated.
- Lead and monitor significant projects, ensuring timeframes and deliverables are achieved.
- Undertake research and identify issues impacting the Deputy Commissioner's responsibilities.
- Provide secretariat support and ensure effective corporate governance to meetings and committees as required.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of the Division's operational business plans and budget.
- Provide high level advice on corporate governance and operational issues which support the operations of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner.
- Liaise and negotiate for and on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner and QFES with internal and external stakeholders and represent the Deputy Commissioner at meetings, internal and external forums as required.
- Monitor and review systems and procedures to identify business enhancements and develop and implement strategies to maximise business improvement initiatives.
